what we do
If you’re tired of watching renovation shows that give you nothing but design ideas, and don’t teach you anything about how to get your project done, well, you’ve come to the right place!
We provide real information for real people who are looking to execute a home renovation. This information is focused on the homeowner, someone who is not a contractor or a designer, but wants to be as well informed as possible prior to starting their renovation journey. Our goal is to have you understand the process, and just how much leg work you will be required to put into your project to realize a successful outcome.
(Spoiler Alert: you have more work to do than you might think!)
We also teach you to manage your own expectations by telling you how long things actually take to get done.
We have broken this down into our 4 P’s:
Planning | Process | Products | Project Management
The goal is to have you understand what your responsibilities are so that you can communicate effectively with your contractors, make timely decisions, and ensure your materials are on site when you need them in order to avoid costly delays.
Oh, and did we say we have a ton of fun in the process? Good, because we #LoveTheProcess - and with a little guidance, you will too!
Dive in and let us know what you think, and don’t hesitate to ask us questions, we’re here to help!
who i am
I am a designer, developer, and contractor with 25+ years in the industry. I have learned a lot of lessons over these years, some harder than others. I have been on TV since 2010 and have been able to share my work with millions of people. I have also given a lot of talks to both homeowners and industry groups alike.
Through all of this I have realized that no one is educating homeowners around what the actual process of a home renovation takes from their perspective.
And while I have loved making all of my shows for HGTV it became very obvious that there is a massive disconnect between homeowners expectations and the reality of construction and home renovation in the real word, and this was largely due to the fact that all these homeowners are watching HGTV, but the network doesn’t have any shows that educate.
I decided it was time to do something about it, so TheBuild.tv was born.
